The Monegros Onshore Wind Farm consists of 12 onshore wind projects with a total capacity of 487MW. Construction is ongoing and progressing well, and remains on time and budget. Three projects are already fully operational and the portfolio is gradually reaching commercial operations and is expected to be fully completed by Q3 2021. The renewable electricity production is estimated at 1.5 TWh per year, which corresponds to the demand of approximately 430,000 Spanish homes.
The wind project portfolio is located in Aragon, Spain and has been developed by the leading Spanish renewable energy company, Forestalia Renevables. Danish Blue Power Partners is leading the development and construction work for the wind farms and gradually Peak Wind will be phased in as asset manager of the wind portfolio during the operational phase.
All turbines used for the project are delivered by GE with 129 turbines of their GE130 – 3.8MW technology. The majority of the renewable power generated by the Monegros wind farms will be sold under power purchase agreements that will pay a fixed price for the electricity delivered. In total it is expected that the Monegros wind portfolio will sell around 12 TWh of renewable power under the initial 10-year power purchase agreement, making it the largest renewable power purchase agreement in Europe to date.
