Head of Project Management Office - Spain

The Position

The Head of Project Management is a key leadership position within CIP’s Spanish portfolio. In this role you will be involved in a broad range of project management and coordination activities from the beginning of the promotion stage throughout the construction and until the beginning of operation. To be successful in this role you must be capable of monitoring multiple tasks and prioritizing to allow the progress of the running projects. You will need to be a self-starter and, with limited guidance, be able to lead the team to deliver in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

Main Interfaces / stakeholders

  • Direct reporting line to the Project Director
  • Continuous exposure to CIP and CISC senior management
  • Provide relevant information to the senior management and all the managers.
  • Any Public Administration or organization involved.
  • Participate and drive Steering Committee meetings where applicable

General Responsibilities & Tasks

Areas of responsibility and tasks will evolve over time but include the following:

  • Guarantee the fulfillment of delivery time and project costs from the beginning of the promotion stage, throughout the construction and until the beginning of operation.
  • Keep the progress on the projects under his/her control up to date, promote the exchange of information and ensure that the objectives are met.
  • Analysis and Tracking and Reporting.
  • Coordinate Project Controls team’s contributions to development of project funding request.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify project risks and lead the cost and schedule contingency management process for assigned projects.
  • Lead ad-hoc cost and schedule studies that enable rapid decision-making based on payback, rate of return, etc.
  • Supervise and coordinate teams involved for each projects phase and eventually external partners.
  • Take part in the definition and updating of the business plan and budget elaboration as regards the project assigned; take on the responsibility of fulfilling the delivery time and project costs in the assigned areas. Propose and support investment in those areas in order to achieve the objectives defined for the business unit.
  • Other work as needed in support of successful project delivery.


  • The place of work will be in Madrid, Spain. Some travel is to be expected.

The Candidate

The Candidate

  • University Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrotechnical / Environmental Engineering or similar.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Project Management of Renewable energy projects.
  • Have a detailed understanding on current Spanish energy regulations.
  • Excellent language skills in Spanish and high level of English.
  • Geographic and travel availability within Spain.
  • Local knowledge combined with the experience of an international work environment.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to efficiently manage complex technical projects and equally complex commercial negotiations.
  • A good understanding of all parts of the Renewable Industry, PV development cycle is essential and experience with negotiating agreements and contracts is highly desirable.
  • Experience in project management, track record when it comes to delivery and contractual negotiation and closing are vital for this role.
  • PMP or PMI certification are not a must will be positively valued.
