Senior Risk Manager for HØST PtX Esbjerg

The Position

Are you a skilled Risk Manager with ambitions to join the upcoming industry of next-generation renewables? HØST PtX Esbjerg is expanding our permanent team in Esbjerg with a Senior Risk Manager. Ideally you bring to the table an appetite for challenges, and a solid track record from safety management of process plants or production facilities within the energy, petrochemical or similar industries.

Senior Risk Manager for Europe’s largest PtX-based ammonia plant

As part of the HØST team, you become involved in the development of HØST PtX Esbjerg, which upon completion will be one of Europe’s largest Power-to-X plants and the largest plant for production of green ammonia. You will get the opportunity to develop and challenge your competencies and knowledge in practice from early design phases through to construction, commissioning and operation in 2027.

Our HØST team consists of highly experienced specialists with industrial backgrounds and skills within engineering, construction, project development, project management, stakeholder management, regulatory compliance and finance.

You will be the expert in your field and will have the opportunity to influence and shape the project based on your well-founded knowledge and solid experience from similar development projects, or from an operational background.

Main tasks

In the role as risk manager, you will be responsible for all risk and safety matters in the project, which concerns a so-called risk-facility in a legal and consenting context under Danish law. You will have a great variety of tasks, and the right candidate shows a high level of resilience and perseverance combined with natural curiosity and persistency.

As part of the overall handling of risk and safety for the facility, the collaboration with relevant Danish authorities, and external consultants and business partners, will be a natural part of your responsibilities. Navigating in new, regulatory territory and working with partnerships in a project-oriented way is also a part of the job.

Your accountabilities are likely to vary, but your main tasks may include:

  • Coordinate and co-manage safety issues in relation to project development, design and construction
  • Facilitate the risk assessment and method statement development for the PtX facility
  • Act as primary interface between project- and risk assessment consultants
  • Coordinate with authorities about approval procedures, including review of documents, participation in meetings and agreeing specific solutions and standards, with strong focus on all safety aspects
  • Coordinate and align with the technical project team on mitigation measures approval procedures
  • Coordinate public consultations and stakeholder engagements with project team and authorities
  • Participate in public meetings as the project focal point for risk/safety

We value the right match of personal and professional skills and would prefer you to enrich our business with the following proven experience and skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience from relevant industry
  • Detailed and in-depth knowledge about Danish risk and safety legislation for industrial risk facilities as well as experience with work environment management
  • Experience with activities related to coordination with authorities about approval procedures, including review of documents, participation in meetings and agreeing on specific standards and solutions, with strong focus on all safety aspects
  • Solid experience with fire and explosion safety, including ATEX
  • Strong familiarity with international safety standards for the safe execution of construction works, including MAH, occupational safety, dispersion analyses, etc.
  • Highly familiar with risk assessment methodology both for design and execution phase
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with many different stakeholders
  • Fluent in Danish in order to interact effortlessly – verbally and in writing – with Danish authorities and legislators
  • Highly proficient in English – verbally and in writing
