The Kent Renewable Energy Plant (Kent REP) has been constructed by CIP and BWSC and put in commercial operation summer 2018.
The power plant was built for production of electricity for the National Grid and for production of electricity and heat through a private wire to the nearby Discovery Park, one of Britain’s leading science parks.
The plant is operated on virgin and waste wood, roughly 230,000 ton annually, with a plant capacity of 27.8MWe + 6MWth and a net efficiency of 35.6%. Kent REP is a power station that combines the environmental benefits of renewable power generation with local economic benefits incl. employment and fuel sourcing.
Kent will power the equivalent of 50,000 homes, and gaining a net CO2 reduction of 180,000 tons per year.
